General Islamic Principles: Seeking refuge against the devils

Seek refuge against the devils among men and jinn

Please spare yourself few minutes to understand this chapter inn sha Allaah.

1. _Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind._
2. _”The King of mankind,_
3. _”The Ilah (God) of mankind,_
4. _”From the evil of the whisperer (devil who whispers evil in the hearts of men) who withdraws (from his whispering in one’s heart after one remembers Allah),_
5. _”Who whispers in the breasts of mankind,_
6. _”Of jinns and men.”_

Allaah has made us to understand that shaytaan has the ability to whisper into the heart of mankind.
And when Shaytan whispers to someone’s heart, what do you think he is calling to?
Worship of Allaah?
Righteousness?
Of course NO!
*He’s calling mischief. He’s calling to evil and disobedience.*
He confuses the believers and makes them forget Allaah.
He will go to any length to make the evil things seem beautiful and the good things seem ugly.
Or have you not seen how easy his whisper as made our ladies to adopt the ~social~ naked fashion and thinking the hijab is difficult?
Haven’t you seen how people fantasize alcoholic drinks which is forbidden and abandon the soft drinks?
His whisper made many people to fear NIKKAH (marriage) and be less ashame of ZINA (fornication)…subhanaLlaah!

And when he made the believers to forget Allaah, he overpower them as his whisper become stronger.

But when we remember Allaah, and mention His Lord’s name, the devil withdraws and goes away. Allaahu akbar.

*Are There Devils Among Mankind too?*

Abu Dharr reported that once he went to the mosque and sat with the Prophet. He asked me, “Did you pray?” When I said no, he said, “Offer two rak’ah.” When I again sat after finishing the prayer, he said, “Abu Dharr, seek refuge against the devils among men and jinn.” I asked, “Are there devils among men also?” He said, “Yes.” I asked him, “O Messenger of Allah, which is the greatest verse in the Qur’an?” He said, “The Verse of the Throne – (Qur’aan 2:255).” [ Imam Ahmad. This Hadith has also been reported by Nasa’i, Abu Hatim and others]

It is now apparent that not only the devils whisper…humans too can whispers evil thoughts in your heart. It could be a person that tells you to do evil and leave the good. It could be pop star, celebrities, colleagues, etc.
Yes…they can’t sit on your heart but their evil ideas, advice or suggestions will distance you from Allaah.

So, when you had a bad thought from shaytaan or your so-called friend calls you to evil or disobedience, recite this chapter and seek refuge’ in Allah from them.
May Allaah grant us understanding. Aameen
