Muslims, Can We Celebrate The Gregorian “NEW YEAR”?

Dear Muslims,

have you ever see a non-Muslim organizing night prayer just because we want to enter new islamiic hijirah year but when it come to gregorian new year many musliims started organizing tahajud, prayer night and many muslims are defending what even non-muslim can not defend… Don’t be suprise that majority of non-muslim festivals like new year, Christmas, osun osogbo, ogun day, olojo day, odun isu, mother day… Valentine, easter e.t.c are promoting by muslims infact the evils festival like christmas and new year majority of people that engage in throwing bangers are muslims # Astaghfirullah … If you tell people not to participated in any feast except eld-li-fitr and eld adhan you cannot see non-muslim saying any thing about it but many Muslims will starting saying don’t criticise we are worshippiing the same God. Subhanallaah!

The basic principle for a Muslim is to follow (the Sunnah) and not introduce innovations. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to mankind): ‘If you (really) love Allaah, then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Qur’aan and the Sunnah), Allaah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.’

32. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): ‘Obey Allaah and the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم).” But if they turn away, then Allaah does not like the disbelievers’”

[Aal ‘Imraan 3:21, 32].

Ibn Katheer (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

This verse states that everyone who claims to love Allah but is not following the path of Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is lying in his claim unless he follows the path or religion of Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in all his words and deeds, as it is proven in al-Saheeh that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever introduces an action that is not part of this matter of ours will have it rejected.”

Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 2/32

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

You should love the Messenger more than you love yourselves, and your faith is not complete unless you do that. Do not introduce into his religion anything that is not part of it. What the seekers of knowledge should do is explain to the people and tell them: Occupy yourselves with legitimate and sound acts of worship; remember Allah; send blessings upon the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) at all times; establish regular prayer; pay zakaah; and be kind towards the Muslims at all times.

Liqaa’aat al-Baab al-Maftooh, 35/5

Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) says in Surat Ali-Imrān, verse 110}, “You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah.

Rasulullah (salallahu ‘alayhi wa salaam) said: “You shall follow the practices of those before you, inch by inch and mile by mile, to the degree that if they enter into the hole of a lizard you will follow them.” He was asked: “O messenger of Allah, are they the Jews and Christians?”
He replied: “Who else?” hmmm let back to Allah before we return to HIM.

Tell your imam now that there is no tahajud or any special prayer for this coming janus new year ask your imam how many time did our noble prophet (peace be upon him) organize special prayer on night of kuffar new year with his companions.

May Allah continues to guide and protect us all to the right path of our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) and increase us in knowledge and in fact because Muslim women seriously fall into victim most. Aameen
