What Should A Muslim Do When Faced With Problems?

“This Alfa or Sheu can solve my problem…Let me meet him for help. In fact, he has helped many”
That kind of mindset is not uncommon among Muslims of nowadays.
Some people believe that other people are able to bestow mercy, forgive sins, overlook bad deeds, and give blessings the same way only Allaah can. These people are sometimes called
Sheu, waliy, alfa, or saints, and their followers sometimes even invoke them. This is a form of MAJOR SHIRK and means you are ascribing to someone other than Allaah something that
only belongs to Allaah, like Lordship, the sole
right to be worshipped, and the divine names and attributes. Only Allaah is the source of mercy, forgiveness, and blessings. So what should a Muslim do when faced with problems?

1. A Muslim should know that trouble comes from two causes. Either your negligence invites it as
Allah says:’ we don’t burden a soul beyond its capacity'(Qur’aan, 2:286) ,or it comes as test from Allaah.
2. You should know that Allaah is aware of your problems and ONLY Him has the power to solve it.
3. Seek help on it from Allaah ONLY. Pray to Allaah and know that Allaah will surely answer your prayer. Allaah says:’ Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in
themselves.'(Qur’aan 13:11)
4. Be patient. In trial times,what should come first is patience. As Allah says:” And seek help through patience and prayer,
and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah ].” (Qur’an 2:45)
5. Ask for forgiveness from Allaah. Even if its just a test from Allaah,won’t you be humble? And if it’s self inflicted, won’t you seek more of forgiveness?
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “How amazing is the case of the believer; there is good for him in everything, and this is only so for the believer. If he experiences something
pleasant, he is thankful, and that is good for him; and if he comes across adversity, he is patient, and that is good for him.” [Muslim]
